18.12.06 .:: Date and programme for XTERRA Denmark 2007 ::.
We would like to repeat this summer's success with the first XTERRA Denmark event just with a lot more participants and better weather! The event will take place on 18 Aug 2007 at the same place but with a bunch of new initiatives.
- There will be a new event off-road duathlon, so everybody who does not want to swim now get a chance to join XTERRA.
- Half or the so called sport distance for the off-road triahlon, ie. one loop of each disciplin. It gives people a chance to try an easier version of XTERRA. However, it is not a qualifying race for the world championship.
The website will be updated shortly and registration will open, but mark your calendar already now!
05.11.06 .:: Carter and McQuiad win the World Championship on Maui ::.
The Olympic champion in triathlon Hamish Carter from New Zealand won his first XTERRA world champion titel and Canadian Melanie McQuaid won the woman's race for the third time on Oct. 29. 2006.
Eneko Llanos and Sibylle Matter (pro categori), Thomas Vonach and Barbara Alber (amateur categori) won the Hawaiin Airlines Double competition with the fastest combined times for participants in the Ironman and XTERRA World Championships on Hawaii, which take part within a week.
The Nissan Xterra World Championship is the final stop on the XTERRA Global Tour - an international series of 100+ qualifying events held in Brazil, Saipan, Germany, New Zealand, Mexico, France, Denmark, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Spain, Italy, South Africa, Japan & the United States. The field boasted 575 entrants who represented more than 25 countries & 39 U.S. States.

03.10.06 .:: XTERRA US Championship, Lake Tahoe ::.
This weekend Lake Tahoe, Nevada, hosted the US XTERRA Championship. The American Seth Wealing won the men's race and the current XTERRA World Champion from Canada Melanie McQuaid won the women's. Renata Bucher wins her second straight XTERRA Europe title with a perfect season incl. her wins in France, Italy, Czech, Spain, and Great Britain. Nico Lebrun notched three wins (Italy, Czech, Denmark) was second in France and third in Germany for his first European Tour title. 18.08.06 .:: Qualifiers for the Nissan XTERRA World Championship 2006 ::.
34 athletes from XTERRA Denmark 2006 have qualified for the Nissan XTERRA World Championship on the 29th Oct. 2006 on Maui. Congratulations to the winners! If you are interested in going but have not qualified you still have a chance. The winners have until Monday to use their slot, thereafter they will be passed on to the next on the age group list. 13.08.06 .:: The World Champion Nicolas Lebrun and Julie Dibens win XTERRA Denmark 2006 ::.
The bad weather this weekend did not seem to bother the athletes. It was a real fun and exciting event. Julie Dibens, UK, was the first one out of the water, very impressive. However, the men took over on the mountainbike and the current World Champion Nicolas could hold on to the 1st place after the bike and won the race in 2:10:19. Julie Dibens held on to the lead and won the women's race in the winning time 2:22:54. See resultats and photos from the event under the link results.

11.08.06 .:: XTERRA Denmark 10 K ::.
46 participants had signed up for the first race in the XTERRA Denmark 2006 event this weekend. Many local athletes raced along with some runners from the UK, USA, Czech Republic and Germany. The winner was Tomas Ondracek, CZH in the time 36:35 and Lisbeth Crafack won the women's race in the time 47:45. Tomorrow it is the off-road triathlon - see you there!!
11.08.06 .:: After party.......::.
Fatter Eskil, Skolegade 25, Århus invites all XTERRA athletes to their outdoor terrace. They offer a very special price on beer after the event between 20.00-21.00h. The band Jordan Drive will play inside at 22.00h - Come on by and end XTERRA Denmark 2006 with a cosy evening in good company!

We will keep registration for Scramble and XTERRA Junior cross-country run plus XTERRA Denmark off-road triathlon open until the 10th Aug, so you can still make it. Remember it is also possible to enter as a team and do a relay. Participants from more than 15 different countries are racing, so it will be an international race with elite and age group competitors. Join us in Hørhaven on the 11-12 August 2006!

30.07.06 .:: Hector Llanos wins on home ground - XTERRA Euskadi 2006 ::.
Yesterday XTERRA Euskadi took place in Bakio, Spain. The Llanos brothers had a close race but Hector crossed the line first in front of his brother and two x XTERRA World Champion Eneko Llanos in the time 2:22:41. Road Bike Shop is the official bike shop and bike mechanic for XTERRA Denmark! Here you will find everything you need for the bike and more. One of their professional mechanics will be present at the race venue before the event for assistance in case of repairs etc.
Furthermore, Compex will be present in the finish area and after the race offers free restitution to all participants. Come on over and try Compex, while you have a chat with one of their experts on how to use Compex in your training.

We cannot put on a race like XTERRA Denmark without the help of many volunteers. We need volunteers to marshall out on the courses and help out at the different aid stations, so if you want to get involved in the event, have a fun day out in the forrest among XTERRA athletes and would like to help out on Friday 11th and/or Saturday 12th Aug. please sign up here as a volunteer All volunteers will get a nice XTERRA t-shirt as a THANK YOU!

03.07.06 .:: X-treme cup '06 ::.
XTERRA Denmark and Fredericia Triathlon are cooperating on a new and different challenge for triathletes i.e. X-treme Cup - which means participate and finish the triathlon race Faxe Kondi Vikingman on the 6th August in Fredericia and XTERRA Denmark off-road triathlon the week after on the 12th August in Århus. All in all that means 3400 m swimming, 118 K cycling and 31 K running! There is a special discount on entries for the two races and nice prizes to the winners of the categories u/40 and o/40 men and female with the fastest combined time.

Eskild Ebbesen, Danish former elite worldclass lightweight rower has taken on a new challenge ie. XTERRA Denmark. Eskild has numerous Olympic (1996 and 2004) and
World Championship medals to his name and was named Sports profile of the year in 2004 in Denmark. He has decided to enter XTERRA off-road triathlon on the 12th Aug. 2006 in Marselisborg Skov, we look forward to seeing him at the start line!

Third stop on the European Tour was on Saturday 24th June in the Czech Republic. Renata Bucher and Nicolas Lebrun repeated themselves and won XTERRA Czech 2006 just like in Italy a couple of weeks ago. Renata has now won 4 races in the XTERRA tour 2006! Will she come to Århus and win too?

06.06.06 .:: Good advise as how to travel to XTERRA Denmark ::.
It is easy to get to Århus for the XTERRA Denmark event. It is only a two hours drive from the German border.
If you are traveling by plane you can get connecting flights from Copenhagen to Århus Airport or cheap Ryan Air tickets from London, Stansted. An other option is to fly to Billund Airport from Amsterdam, Birmingham, London, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Malaga, Manchester, Münich, Nice, Paris, Prague, Rome, Stockholm and many other cities. Billund Airport is situated 100 km from Århus, from there you can catch a bus directly to the centre of Århus or get a rental car. 05.06.06 .:: Renata does it again in XTERRA Italy! ::.
The second race in the European XTERRA Tour - XTERRA Italy took place on Sunday 4th June in the small village Villacidro on Sardinia - this time Nicolas Lebrun could add another XTERRA title to his CV with the victory in XTERRA Italy just like Renata Bucher did it again, and made two in a row with her victory in France last week and for the third time this year crossed the finish line as the first lady - Impressive!

The first XTERRA event ever in France took place this weekend, which also meant the kick off for the European XTERRA Tour. 148 individual participants and 12 teams were at the start in Saint Raphael. The Frenchman Cedric Fleureton was the fastest one to swim 1500 meters, mountain bike 30 K and run 10 K cross country. He won over his fellow countryman and current world champion Nicolas Lebrun in the winning the time of 2:20:07.
Renata Bucher from Switzerland took her second XTERRA titel after her victory in XTERRA Saipan earlier on this year and was crowned female champion of XTERRA France 2006 (2:51:10).

| The current XTERRA World Champion Nicolas Lebrun has just signed up for
XTERRA Denmark!
After two times on the podium in 2002 and 2003 he finally won the NISSAN XTERRA World Championship 2005 on Maui.
Nicolas Lebrun's CV is impressive - eight XTERRA victories, two times World Champion in winter triathlon (1999 & 2000), numerous podium places at the World Championships in duathlon and awarded "Top 5 World Best Triathlete of the Year" (Triathlete U.S.) and "Off-road Athlete of the Year" (Competitor Magazine) in 2005.

18.05.2006 .:: Proof of Life will participate in XTERRA Denmark ::.
PROOF OF LIFE - an initiative for and with adult cancer survivors with the will to succeed!
Thirteen young people with a cancer diagnosis are ready for the ultimate physical challenge, KILIMAN – which includes climbing Kilimanjaro, 248 K mountain biking and running a marathon of 42 K in Feb. 2007. They want to show the world that a cancer survivor can perform amazing things and that it is possible to use and turn a life threatening illness to increase strength and confidence.
Seven members of the group Proof of Life plus their physiotherapist have accepted the invitation to participate in XTERRA Denmark. It is with great pleasure that we welcome them in Århus on the 12th August 2006.
02.05.2006 .:: The European XTERRA Tour is about to start ::.
End of May the European XTERRA Tour will start in Saint Raphael, France. Just like Denmark it offers 34 slots for the Nissan XTERRA World Championship and 15.000 EUR in prize money. They still have open entries, so you can sign up! Remember if you participate in at least two of the European XTERRA 2006 events, you gather points towards the XTERRA European Championship!

of the XTERRA Tribe ::.
The Adidas XTERRA New Zealand Championship on April 8, 2006 in Rotorua was a truly remarkable gathering of outdoor enthusiasts of all ages, shapes and sizes. An impressive number of 2,500 competitors – trail runners, walkers, mountain bikers, and triathletes gathered last weekend for a 11K and 21K run or walk, a 30K XTERRA mountain bike race and finally XTERRA off-road triathlon. Hamish Carter claimed his third XTERRA New Zealand title with the winning time of 2:32:08 and Gina Ferguson the women’s title, 3:01:10 of the third XTERRA race in the global tour.

03.04.2006 .:: Swiss sweep in Saipan ::.
Second stop on the XTERRA Global Tour was Saipan Saturday 1, April, where XTERRA athletes raced for the prize money and slots for the NISSAN XTERRA World Championship on Maui. It was a Swiss sweep, as Olivier Marceau and Renate Bucher conquered XTERRA Saipan by winning the men's and women's overall championship. Renata Bucher impressed by posting a women's record time of 2:49:00 - also good for second place overall behind only Marceau (2:35:06)!

27.03.2006 .:: The XTERRA Global Tour 2006 kicks off ::.
The 2006 Global XTERRA Tour kicked off this weekend in Western Cape, South Africa. Native Conrad Stoltz, the 2 x XTERRA World Champion, made it three-in-a-row with the winning time of 2:40:29. Michelle Lombardi, also from South Africa, took the honours in the women's category with a 3:13:16 finish.

Unfortunately we have had some troubles finding relevant partners for the race in Viborg, therefore we have been forced to move XTERRA Denmark to another town.
However, it is with great pleasure we can present Århus, as the new race venue for XTERRA Denmark 2006!
Århus is an international city – the second largest in Denmark. It is a city where you can combine sports with many exciting cultural experiences. It is easily accessible and it offers a wide range ot accommodation and attractions.
In cooperation with Aarhus 1900 Triathlon club and with the support of VisitAarhus and Sport Aarhus Events we will put on the first XTERRA Denmark off-road race consisting of 1500 m swimming, 28 K mountainbiking and 10 K cross-country running in Århus on the 11th and 12th of August 2006 in the beautiful forest of Marselisborg.

Welcome or "Velkommen" as we say in Danish to XTERRA Denmark. After having worked for four years with organizing events like Lanzarote Ironman at Club La Santa, Lanzarote I was hocked on triathlon and even did three Ironmen. Now, however, I am back in Denmark and in cooperation with Viborg Gymnastik- og Idrætshøjskole (Sports Folk High School) and Viborg Tourist Office I am organizing the first XTERRA off-road triathlon event in Denmark in the beautiful surroundings of Viborg. I am hoping many national and international triathletes, bikers and runners will join me for some fun and challenging XTERRA days Aug. 25-26 2006 in Viborg.

A new XTERRA site is currently under construction - here you will be able to find all sorts of news on the event, which includes a lake swim, ruff mountain bike leg and an off-road run along beautiful wooded trails.
